Welcome to www.FirstBankPR.us. This website is not affiliated with FirstBankPR, http://www.firstbankpr.com . On the contrary, this site is a non-profit discussion group authored by former FirstBankPR who have experienced extremely poor service. Moving to Puerto Rico? There are several choices for banking. There are major banks such as Banco Popular, Oriental, and ScotiaBank. There are also two types of non-profit institutions: Credit Unions and Co-ops. One thing, however, is for sure: It may be prudent to AVOID FIRSTBANKPR. While FirstBank may make it easy to open accounts, once you transfer your money in from your USA accounts and elsewhere, they will not hesitate to freeze, seize, hold, convert, or not make available your cleared funds. They cite the deposit agreement; however, we are not talking about limited hold times for new accounts, we are talking about the bank actually making an unauthorized withdrawal from the account and moving the money to an unknown location without an explanation. FirstBankPR then provides no source of contact within the bank to determine where the funds are or how to retrieve them. Imagine, moving to Puerto Rico for business or to establish residency and opening a bank account, then about a month later, having the bank simply seize your money and not provide you any form of notice. However, this is how FirstBankPR treats its customers. This is not an isolated incident. This has occurred multiple times with clients. It appears to be FirstBankPR's modus operandi to maintain poor communications with clients. Web searches can locate various horror stories about FirstBankPR.
